Grounds Crew

Location: Muskoka, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time, Seasonal

Job Summary: ArborWorks Tree Service is seeking a diligent and motivated Groundperson to join our team. The Groundperson will be responsible for supporting our arborists and tree care specialists in various tasks related to landscape maintenance, cleanliness, and outdoor area upkeep. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, possess a strong work ethic, and demonstrate a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize hand tools and power tools for landscape maintenance, including but not limited to pruning, trimming, and debris removal.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of outdoor areas, including customer properties, job sites, and company facilities.
  • Operate mechanical equipment for grounds upkeep, such as chainsaws, brush chippers, leaf blowers, and other specialized machinery.
  • Assist in hauling brush, branches, and other debris to designated disposal areas.
  • Perform raking, sweeping, and general clean-up duties to maintain a neat and orderly appearance.
  • Assist arborists in tree care tasks, including cleaning, pruning, and removing dead or diseased branches.
  • Support tree climbing operations by hauling buckets and equipment as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment used in outdoor maintenance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.

Position Overview:
ArborWorks Tree Service is seeking a licensed mechanic with skills annd extensive knowledge in diesel and gas engines for heavy equipment and truck repair to join our team. The successful candidate will work full-time, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and may be required to work overtime and travel to our Muskoka location occasionally for emergency service calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel equipment and vehicles.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Travel to our Muskoka location when required for emergency repairs.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed truck or heavy equipment technician.
  • Proven experience in repairing and maintaining diesel and gas engines, mechanical equipment and truck repairs.
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical diagnostic and repair.
  • Knowledge in air brake diagnostic and repair.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and attention to detail when performing regular maintenance and inspections.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to perform variety of duties including occasional equipment operation.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, class D or A preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in hydraulic maintenance and repair.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a well-rounded and experienced labourer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must have an AZ, AZR, or DZ license and a solid driving history. This role involves not only operating equipment but also being a versatile team player willing to assist with various equipment, driving, and conducting manual labour tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation and general maintenance of small and medium-sized excavator, skid steers, and various equipment.
  • Operate a variety of tree service equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Read, understand, and complete assigned light and heavy equipment operational work orders with little direct supervision
  • Assist the crew with tree removal, pruning, and other related tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with maintaining small and medium-sized excavators, skid steers, and various equipment
  • Proven experience in comprehending operational work orders with little direct supervision
  • Proven experience as an equipment operator in the tree service industry.
  • AZ license required.
  • Strong driving record with a history of safe driving practices.
  • Willingness to assist with various tasks beyond equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

ArborWorks Tree Service located in North Bay, Ontario is looking to provide an experienced person an opportunity to work outside the hustle and bustle of the GTA life. ArborWorks is a smaller company with over 20 years in business. We have all the necessary equipment including bucket trucks, large and small chippers and stump grinders, mini-skids, big skids and a whole lot more toys. We have been a solid supporter of the ISA and MTCU Arborist licensing programs through proper training, safety and experience. Job Duties

  • Driving and operating bucket trucks and chipper trucks for tree removals and pruning,
  • Tree Climbing for removals and pruning at various heights and technicality,
  • Tree removal and pruning for utilities line clearing,
  • Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more in a safe and efficient manner,
  • Have an aptitude to learn operations of various pieces of larger equipment,
  • Ability to manually haul brush, remove debris and cleanup,
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications Preferred

  • 3 years tree climbing experience preferred.
  • Certified Utility Arborist or willingness to work towards certification,
  • Ability to work well with others one-on-one, in small groups and team environments,
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs,
  • Valid provincial driver’s license class G, Preferred: Class AZ, AZR or DZ with a clean driving record.
