How to Protect Your Trees from the Summer Heat
Summer is a beautiful season, but the heat can be tough on trees. When the days are hot and dry, trees need a bit of extra care to stay healthy and strong.
Here are a few simple signs to watch for, and some natural ways to keep your trees healthy all summer long. If you notice any of the following, your tree might be struggling with heat stress or lack of water.
- Wilted or drooping leaves
- Edges of the leaves turn brown or dry
- Leaves start falling too early
- Tree isn’t growing much, or branches look dry
- Leaves curl up or change color too soon
Easy, Natural Ways to Help Your Trees
You don’t need fancy tools or chemicals. Just a few simple actions can help your trees stay strong and healthy during the summer.
- Water deeply, once or twice a week
Skip daily light watering. It’s better to water deeply so the roots grow down where the ground stays cooler and holds more water. - Add mulch around the base
Use natural mulch to keep the soil moist and cool. Don’t pile it against the trunk, leave some space around it. - Give extra care to young trees
If you’ve recently planted a tree, it may need a little extra protection, like some light shade or a bit more water than usual.
Every tree is different. If you’re not sure what your tree needs, it’s okay to ask.
At ArborWorks, we’re happy to help. If you have questions or want one of our tree experts to check things out, just send us a message. Let’s keep your trees healthy this summer and after, too.
